Farming is one of the most dangerous professions in the UK, accounting for around 20% of workplace fatalities, despite representing just 1% of the workplace.
When a serious accident happens, the first few minutes can shape the outcome. Distance, terrain and access often delay the arrival of emergency services, meaning the people already on site are usually the first to respond.
Introducing FarmersAid – a new RABI initiative designed to give farming people clear, step-by-step trauma guidance to act quickly and with confidence while emergency services are on the way.
The FarmersAid App
Launching on 4 June 2026, the free FarmersAid app will provide real time, step-by-step guidance for the 10 most serious on-farm accident scenarios:
- Severe bleeding
- Crush injuries
- Falls from height
- Head injuries
- Limb entrapment
- Machinery-related incidents
- Livestock-related injuries
- Fractures
- Severe burns
- Medical collapse following trauma
The FarmersAid app is designed for use in high-stress situations and can be used while emergency services are on the way. The step-by-step guidance is structured, clear and accessible on a smartphone.

FarmersAid has been developed with Professor Stuart Maitland-Knibb and Professor Cathy Jackson, bringing specialist insight from rural emergency medicine and frontline emergency response into real on-farm situations.
