NMPT-GB is a new web-based free-to-use Nutrient Management Planning Tool to help farmers and advisers in England and Wales plan and record their nutrient use.

This free webinar will demonstrate the new NMPT-GB nutrient management planning tool. Effective nutrient management provides sufficient nutrients in fertiliser and organic materials to meet the growth requirements of crops and grassland whilst managing environmental impacts; it can help minimise Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, reduce the incidence of diffuse water pollution and increase productivity by reducing input costs by matching applications to soil and crop need. Nutrient Management Plans are a requirement of the Nitrate Vulnerable Zone (NVZ) regulations, Farming Rules for Water (FRfW) (England) and The Water Resources (Control of Agricultural Pollution) Regulations (Wales). NMPT-GB was developed by Defra, ADAS and RSK Business Solutions, with support from the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB).

The tool is an online replacement for the existing PLANET v.3.3 and MANNER-NPK nutrient management planning tools. The tool will be updated to include Scottish recommendations from the SAC Technical Notes later in 2026.

The tool is available on GOV.UK. It is an online tool compatible with computers, mobiles, and tablets, adapting to different platforms.
