Time to start planning the Big Farmland Bird Count (BFBC) – back for the 7th year.
This nationwide citizen science project takes just 30 minutes spotting birds on your land and is a great opportunity of showing what your conservation efforts deliver on the ground. GWCT who run the count hope that it will act as a catalyst for you to start building your own long-standing wildlife records.
How to take part in three simple steps
1) Download your count sheet from the BFBC website www.bfbc.org.uk
2) Count your birds! On a day between 7th and 16th February, spend about 30 minutes recording the species and number of birds seen on one particular area of the farm.
3) Once you’ve completed your count, simply submit your results at www.bfbc.org.uk
It’s a great chance for local birders and farmers to team up and do the survey together.
